PREFACE TO UNDERSTANDING APOSTASY AND DECEPTION

In the “last days” the greatest deception ever perpetrated on mankind will beguile mankind, including Christians. One great nation, headed by the antichrist, will subdue the nations of the earth and dominate the world. People will think him the Savior, the man with the answer to the world’s complex problems, and the great peacemaker in an exceedingly dangerous world cowed by the specter of terrorism and economic collapse. He will do the unthinkable and make a pact with Israel to make peace in the Middle East. One man, who claims to be a Christian and appears to be a wonderful person and great leader, comes to power with the backing of the Church only to later turn on the church and Israel in the worst persecution the world has ever seen. Although seen by Daniel 2,600 years ago, and the Apostle John nearly 2,000 years ago, this could very well happen in our lifetime.

The Bible speaks of a period of deception, and tribulation that is without precedent. What will it mean practically? If the Bible is correct (and I believe it is), it will get to the point where you will not be able to buy or sell anything. You won’t have access to food, clothing, housing, health care, schools – nothing! If you are not a Christian (and by that I mean you don’t have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and haven’t been reborn in your human spirit), you will probably be so caught up in the deception that one day. When you are given a choice that will enable you to continue to buy and sell and live a half way normal life, you will agree to take a mark and worship the antichrist. This will determine your eternal destiny. Most will be deceived! Most will take the path of least resistance. You will be deceived if…

o If you are a Christian that has made himself at home in this world.

o If you don’t grasp your true citizenship, you will become a part of the system without realizing it.

o If you live in the wisdom of this world.

o If you live and act as if you are a citizen of this world rather than a heavenly eternal kingdom.

o If you try to straddle the fence and have the best of both worlds. What you love most will win out in the end: Jesus or the things of the world.

o If you love the approval of this world, and are afraid to go against the tide.

o If you love your life more than God.

o If you love your family and friends more.

o If you don’t love the truth as revealed in God’s Word. As the country singer sings, “you have to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything.”

o If you aren’t clearly standing for what God stands for.

o If you have given in to the “broad way” of thinking without questioning.

If you are a true “Christian” and not part of the apostate (fallen) “Church”, you will be persecuted by your “Christian” friends and family – people you loved and trusted–because of your contrary stand. If you are an overcoming Christian, you will suffer the loss of all things, including the rejection of those closest to you. You will be delivered up and put to death (again, these are not my words, but right out of the Gospels). This is a small price to pay for the privilege of seeing our Lord return and to be able to rule and reign with him throughout all eternity.

Revelation speaks of “witness”, “witnesses” and “testimony”. The root in Greek for all of these words is “martyr”! Revelation 12:11 tells us that “we overcome by the blood of the lamb, the word of our testimony, loving not our lives unto death.” Only those willing to die for their faith will escape the great deception. This is as it has been down through history but even more so in the end of days.

Our assumption in writing this book is that many who read it will be those who want to stand for what God stands for, are aware of the inevitability of deception, because they know the Scripture tells us that this deception is so good that it can deceive even the very elect (by the way, Matthew 24:22 – and the phrase “if it were possible” found in some translations is not in the original Greek text). They want to know how to recognize it. They know prophecy was written for a reason – not just for academic interest. It was written to warn us about what is to come so we will not be deceived.

The purpose of this book is to equip the believer to recognize deception and to expose the extent of deception that is already at work. There is deception in the media, the entertainment world, the news, schools, government and even church. Only those who recognize and obey His still small voice will overcome. Only those with the eyes of the “Spirit of God” will see the true picture. Only those who “have an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches” will overcome. Only those who are willing to suffer the loss of all things will overcome. Only those who are built up with others in a vital “Body Life” will overcome. This is not the time to stand alone. We need one another.

Don’t depend on others to interpret the Bible for you (not even us.) Let God’s Word speak to you personally. Your only hope for avoiding deception is to know the Lord, know his Word and be closely knit with other saints. The stakes are high.Where Is The Filming Location Of Old Ironsides?. INTRODUCTION

This book is about recognizing deception and apostasy. If we are those Christians – finally, after 2,000 years, living in the “end of days”, the greatest delusion ever to come upon the earth is coming or may already be here. How do we recognize it? How can we avoid getting caught up in it? Is there a magic bullet, some protection from its beguiling power?

The word “deceive” means “to mislead by falsehood or to delude.” A good deception is so compelling that people ARE conned by it. You may think you are seeing something really good when it is evil. If you think it is going to be easy or obvious, then it isn’t deceiving. Right? So many glibly think God will take care of them when the time comes. But if you haven’t learned to get into God’s presence and get fresh revelation from Him today, I doubt that, in that day, truth will just jump up and slap you in the face and say “Here is how you are being deceived.” Deception works like the frog in the heating pot of water – the frog gets used to the gradually increasing temperature until it is too late.

That being the case, it would make sense that there is some careful manipulation being done in the world to “muddy” our understanding of both the scriptures and world events as they happen. Because the end times prophecies are going to happen in this physical world, Satan will need to deceive Christians in their understanding of Bible prophecy or their application of it to the nations and events on the earth, or both. Therefore, we need to see with increasing clarity if there is political spin, media spin and even “Christian spin” in the information fed us.

Richards J. Heuer Jr. wrote about this common phenomenon in a 1979 article entitled, “Do You Really Need More Information?” He writes:

“Information that is consistent with our existing mindset is perceived and processed easily. However, since our mind strives instinctively for consistency, information that is inconsistent with our existing mental image tends to be overlooked, perceived in a distorted manner, or rationalized to fit existing assumptions and beliefs. Thus, new information tends to be perceived and interpreted in a way that reinforces existing beliefs.”

People don’t want to be confused with the facts. They want to make the facts fit their preconceived notions. That is why it is so difficult to perceive the deception. We were born and raised to believe a certain way and few can think outside the box they were raised with.

So how do we recognize deception? How do you recognize a counterfeit dollar bill? They teach bank tellers that the best way to recognize the counterfeit is to know what a real one looks and feels like. Below is a short checklist of how to avoid deception:

o Have a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ yourself. We are responsible for our own spiritual destiny – not depending upon a relative, a pastor, priest, church or program.

o Satan is the Prince of this world. This is his territory and he is the master deceiver! Expect the media, your leaders and others to lie.

o Don’t be afraid to question information and sources. We answer to and are accountable to God alone – not to any person in between. No one will be with us at the judgment seat of Christ.

o Read the Bible. Study prophecy and expect the Spirit to enlighten you.

o Be open to see what is happening in the institutional church. If we blindly accept what our Christian teachers tell us, we may be led astray.

o Be open in your mind and heart (because it is ultimately a spiritual matter requiring revelation). We need to have an open heart so God can reveal the truth to us from His Word – not the spun teachings of the establishment sold out to the world and the State. We must be careful whenever we are reading or listening to the professionals. This information is so important we shouldn’t assume we know it all. We had better take a fresh look ourselves instead of taking the “experts” word for it.

o It is not a sin to question our Christian leaders. Bereans were praised by the Apostle Paul for holding up what he said to Scripture. If anyone tells us otherwise, we must be very careful. These are not “God’s anointed” with a corner on the truth! We have access to the same Bible and the same Lord!

The Nature of Christian Deception

In the last chapter of the Book of Daniel, it says twice that the words of the prophecy should be “sealed up and concealed until the end of the age.” Christians have been trying their best to determine the meaning of the prophetic books of the Bible but it will only be revealed to the generation with a “need to know.” Christian writers tried to interpret prophecy in terms of their historical, political and social context. It is easy to see how things could get off.

The biggest source of deception, in my opinion,

Old+Ironside+Poem Pictures
Old+Ironside+Poem Pictures
comes from confusion relating to dispensationalism, a doctrine which started in the 19th century. It started as a vision that the church would experience a “secret rapture” prior to the tribulation. Once theologians believed that the church was gone, they came up with a theory that the church age (or dispensation) ended with the rapture and that God’s attention turned back to Israel. Today, fundamental Christianity is so steeped in this tradition that they can’t see beyond it. What started as a little doctrine has grown to be a huge system of doctrine with one error compounding upon another. This is called systematized error.

This is a huge subject for another book but suffice it to say at this point that the question is not so much the timing of the rapture, but the importance of the church and Israel to be present as the “Two Witnesses” of Revelation 11 – the two olive trees and the two lampstands. The failure of Christians to see the Church in every chapter of the book of Revelations has blinded them to the essential role both groups have.
If Christians assume the church will not be here during the Tribulation period, they will miss the signs. In working on an up coming book, we have read and reread the great theologians of the past – Ironsides, Pentecost, Barnhouse and many others to the present such as Ryrie, Walvoord, Steadman, etc. The blindness of these men caused by one false assumption has led to the failure of an entire generation to grasp the significance of the last days to the church and an escapism worthy of the Laodicean Church.

Two errors make prophecy of little importance to Christians. First, the dispensational approach believed that since the church raptures at the beginning of the tribulation, it is not even present during the final seven year period. The second is preterism, currently promoted by the Bible Answer Man (Hank Hannegraff), which says that Revelation was written before 70 AD and all prophecy has been fulfilled. Both extremes tend to negate the importance of prophecy.
When Will the End Come?

Although Christians down through the ages thought their generation might be “the one”, there are two major events that signal the “beginning of the end”. The end cannot come until these two things occur. One relates to the restoration of the nation of Israel and the other relates to the rise of a nation that dominates the earth like none other in history–a young nation that comes out of the Western Christian world and dominates the entire world (the eleventh horn).

The Bible clearly foretells many times in the Old Testament the scattering of the Jews throughout the world and their gathering in at the end of days just before the Messiah’s reign. In 1948 the nation of Israel was restored, with Jerusalem being captured in 1967 during the 6 day war and made the capital in 1981. Luke 21:24 says, “and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” After nearly two millennia of being dispersed throughout the world, this tiny people group made their way back to the land God had given them. Today we see the Jews barely holding on to their little nation of Israel, as the whole world experiences wars and rumors of wars, famine, pestilence, and earthquakes – all of the “signs of the times” foretold in the Bible.

The other major event is one that almost all theologians and Christian leaders seem to have missed. The Bible tells us that there will be a powerful nation in the last days that will dominate economically and militarily. Just as the modern nation of Israel was born, another nation was becoming a world economic, political and military superpower. In the years following WWII, America was emerging as the supreme military superpower in the world. Today it spends more on its military as all the nations of the earth combined. It has been so technically advanced, no one can stand against it. Wherever America has gone, she left troops and military bases (e.g. Germany, Korea, Bosnia, Iraq), and in recent years she has taken on the world in preemptive strikes at will around the world, totally ignoring world opinion and the UN.

It also emerged as the dominant commercial force in the world. In 1972, the entire world went on the dollar standard and U.S. domination of the world economies was complete. It is very interesting that most Christians can’t see America for what it really is but academics clearly understand the complete dominance of America from a military, economic or political point of view. When I presented this material to a group of conservative Jews in Buenos Aires, they had no difficulty in seeing the role America is playing in the world. Outsiders such as the 19th Century Frenchman Alexis de’Toqueville and the Russian Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn have always been able to see our strengths and weaknesses better than we can. They have also seen the dominant place of religion – Christian fundamentalism in our history. Based on the above, isn’t it conceivable that this really could be the end? These conditions that were prophesied so long ago have never before existed in history.

Christians are blinded to the possibility that America could be that nation. They see the antichrist coming out of Europe, Russia, Iraq, Israel, etc. – anywhere but America. They fail to understand that God looks at peoples rather than geographic boundaries. We are European in language, culture, law, etc. We are also the most “Christian” nation on earth whereas Europe, Russia, etc. are post-Christian. Because theologians were expecting the church to be gone, they saw the antichrist as likely a Jew – again, so confused because of their predisposition to believe Christians are gone. However, if they are gone, how can they be deceived? Oh well.

A WORD ABOUT THE ANTICHRIST

We greatly underestimate Satan himself if we do not remember that he is known as the “deceiver of the brethren” and the one who can appear as an “Angel of Light.” As such, he will perpetrate his cleverest deception upon the American evangelical church. Can you imagine anything more diabolical than deceiving Christians into actually helping the “beast” come to power? Revelation sees the beast come to power with the woman (the church) riding the beast! Since Satan’s plan is to hit us coming and going, we must be cautious when a leader comes along who seems to have all the answers–one who is moral, decisive, and charismatic and, above all, talks the Christian talk. Watch out when a leader feels called by God to bring peace to the world, solve the sticky problem in the Middle East, and bring Christian values, morals and free market prosperity and democratic self-rule to the whole world. He sees the Church and State in partnership, funding “faith-based” initiatives, in bringing this new wonderful peace to the world. He will be lauded from the pulpits across the land as Christians are caught up in the great patriotic fervor as his armies march against the evil forces of ignorance, intolerance and Islam. The term “antichrist” is a misnomer. People think it means “against Christ” but it really means a “Christ substitute”. Could an obviously evil, new age person from Europe fool an American evangelical Christian? I doubt it. So many believe the antichrist will be from the Middle East or Europe, marginally Christian if at all – probably “new age”, even a Jew but this is not what the Bible tells us.

The Bible indicates that many trusting Christians will take the antichrist at his word and even support him. Today, if a public figure claims to be a “Christian” everyone believes him and takes it at face value. The Bible tells us that antichrist represents the most powerful country in the world – one that dominates it militarily and commercially. That can hardly be Russia, Italy (the Vatican), Iraq, Israel or even the European Union. He makes a defense treaty with Israel and he is so beguiling that even Christians are seduced by his wiles. Only one nation fits the description. Only one country has the crusading Christian zeal and sense of destiny. We hear from Christians around the world and it is interesting to note they don’t find that nation quite as hard to identify as we do.

People do not understand that God deals with peoples – not geographic boundary lines. America is an extension of Europe in language, culture, history and law. We are the apex of Western Civilization. We may well be that conquering “Christian” nation that no one in the world can stand against. We may be the “little horn” of Daniel, having grown out of the ten, ripping the three that colonized us out (the English, French and Spanish) and now dominate the whole World as the only superpower with the will and the way!

So what does this say to American Christians – that their beloved country could be the evil empire of the “last days?” That very well could be, and if that is the case, the deception will be far worse in the heart of that darkness. Apostasy means – “falling away” implying a church that once had the truth and lost it. So is it possible that the American church is epitomized in the description of the Church of Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-22), a church that thinks it has it all and really doesn’t? How deceiving would it be for the American Christian who thinks America is a force for truth, justice and democracy taking the world for “Christ and the church” by vanquishing the evil “godless” dictatorships of the world? What if things are not as they seem? Recognizing deception and apostasy may be more difficult than you think!

The weight rebound effect is happening to millions of people in this world, and especially in America where we have more than what we truly need in most every area of life today. So, how did you get yourself into the position you are right now? Are you blaming genetics, your job, your relationship, the loss of finances, or something or someone else outside of yourself? If so, you are looking in the wrong places. To get well is one thing, to stay well is another. Over the last 25 years of my career I have counseled so many people who have been successful at losing weight, only to find themselves in the very same predicament years down the road. Now certainly some of you may have a thyroid condition or other medical condition that warrants further review, but, most of you are where you are because you haven’t come to the truest cause of your excess weight condition. Here is what I have learned from counseling thousands of people suffering from rebound weight gain:

You are in a state of “waiting” for something. Perhaps you have been waiting for a better relationship, or a better job, or to get well, or waiting to find the perfect home, waiting for the perfect time to tell the truth about yourself or something that happened to you,or waiting to feel better about something.http://www.ironsideeffects.info/george-w-bush-the-leaders-are-right-in-front-of-iacoccaswhat-does-uss-stand-for-face. You may be waiting to move, waiting for a life circumstance to change so you can finally do whatever it is that you have been hoping to do. In some way you are stagnant and because of that stagnation you are feeling pain. Wherever there is stagnation in the human body there is an association of pain.

So when a person is in a state of waiting they are also in a state of weighting and will eventually put on weight. Some people may gain alot of weight and others just enough to make them feel bad about themselves. No matter what, weight is a mechanism of protection, and it “puts off” other people when we are trying to stay hidden. Where there is stagnation in your life, there is a lack of circulation, or a blockage, or your nerves are being pressed and this happens not just physically, but mentally, and emotionally as well. So what can you do about this time of waiting? Here are some suggestions:

Immediately change your first thought of the day. Check to see if you are waking up with positive thoughts. You see, your first thought of each day is your leading thought that sets your mood. So, if you find that your first thoughts of the day are negative, make a concerted effort to say something positive about yourself and to yourself right away. When you have low self-esteem it paralyzes you in some ways. The way you feel about yourself deep down inside is the reflection that is seen in your physical body.

Most often people are lacking joy, or hiding the fact that they are not truly joyful. Most individuals I have counseled that have recurrent weight issues, even after having some success with a weight loss program, are often hiding the fact that they are lacking true love; or they are hiding some other major life issue that they feel someone or many people would not understand. Others are afraid to be judged because of a life choice and rather than share their true opinion or position they hold onto it “waiting” for the right time to act.

Some individuals have taken one course after the next, have hired work out specialists,Where Is Ironside Gym Located?. professional chefs, joined fitness clubs, have taken up a new sport and have acquired some level of weight loss. But, no matter how much you know about staying healthy, or how much you apply those things, if you do not remove the core issues that cause you to hide from your own pain, it will be difficult if not impossible to enjoy your perfect weight for the majority of your lifetime. Getting to know yourself is an important part of wellness.

As you look at the world around you, what is it that you most notice? Are you seeing the beauty, the positive aspects in others, or do you find yourself complaining and blaming others for your current situation? Life really is a wonderful mirror. We can learn alot about ourselves by examining whatever it is that we most often perceive.

Now determining when you began this negative behavior pattern is always an important issue.Ask yourself how long you have had a weight problem. When did this begin? Who was involved? Do you need to forgive yourself for anything? Is there someone else you need to forgive? Are you hiding something about yourself that you need to divulge to someone you know you can trust? Is there something that happened to you long ago that you have never really gotten over? Were you abused? Are you still a victim? Even if you have become strong in certain ways, victim personalities can crop up in life.

Those suffering with weight problems have “issues in their tissues” I say. When we suppress problems they can begin to manifest as excess weight. If you can learn to deal with your issues as they come your way in life, you will be healthier.

What to do right away: Talk to a counselor, your pastor, closest friend or relative, a teacher, or other individual with whom you can fully express your inner most challenges. Next, take steps to alleviate your pain by acting upon whatever it was that you were or have been waiting for. For example, if someone abused you in your life and it is a legal issue that you can still pursue, you may choose to talk with a legal authority or even the police about what transpired. If you have been waiting to divulge something specific, let’s say, about your sexual life, a habit, something you have done, or some other skeleton in your closet, first write it down and then take it outside and burn it in your BBQ grill or fireplace. Once you have taken a step to show that you have power over your feelings regarding past circumstances, you will be on your way toward healing.List of Poem Types. Next, determine what possible ramifications you may have to deal with if you will be confronting someone who hurt you in the past. Is it worth it? Or would it be best to forgive yourself and that person without opening an old wound?

Next, you must forgive yourself for not handling the situation the way you had hoped to at that time. Remember that everyone is always doing the best they can with who they are and what they know at any given moment. You were doing the best you could back then.

How would you handle things differently today if you were in the same position? Write it down.

How would your life have been different if that circumstance did not occur?

How would you like to live your life right now? What is prohibiting you from having the life of your dreams?

Is there something about yourself that you would like to change physically? If so, talk with a medical specialist and others in your life on a need to know basis.

Is there something about your personal life that you feel ashamed of? If you answered yes, are you ready to explore the best way to “come clean” about your lifestyle? Are you ready to take control of your life now?

There are many reasons that we try to fool ourselves and others, reasons that we feel we must hide. I know plenty of people who struggled with their sexual preferences and identities during their lives. Most often they were afraid to “come out” because they felt others would ridicule them, or they might lose the respect of their peers, or their loved ones, or even their public popularity. I remember recently hearing that Raymond Burr, of the TV show “Ironsides”was in a homosexual relationship most all of his life, but he and his talent agents felt that his career would collapse if anyone knew his true lifestyle. Thirty years ago I could see that his life choice might have been viewed much more harshly than in today’s world. So try to put your issues in perspective. Who would really care? What friendships might you lose if any? Would your family really stop loving you? And, most importantly…are you ready to stop living for others and begin a life that makes you happiest?

If you have a shady past and you have taken steps to remedy your old lifestyle please forgive yourself. I have counseled recovering addicts and criminals. Most often times it is life circumstances that cause a person to be internally conflicted when faced with choices. For instance if your family were starving and you had no money due to a crisis, you might find you are capable of “taking” a loaf of bread, when during normal circumstances you would never think that way. Or for some addicts, they have a chemical predisposition that causes them to be more susceptible to substance challenges. So, forgive yourself, start on a new road to recover your life…take charge now.

As you begin to put yourself in motion toward your hopes and dreams and wishes, you will see that it is easier for you to make healthy decisions. You will begin to choose smaller portions, and your innate wellness cravings will be foremost on your mind. As you concentrate on loving yourself into wellness your weight will begin to drop, you will find yourself less hungry because you are filling up on enjoyable relationships, conversations, research, and other thought processes and activities that “feed you well.”The more you feed yourself with the joys of life, the less likely you are to partake in overeating and becoming a couch potato.

So…to find your perfect body weight and keep off those extra pounds your whole life…stop WAITING for something else to happen, stop WAITING for the right time, stop waiting for things to change around you and MAKE THE CHANGES YOU HAVE CONTROL OF TODAY! Make a list each morning of what you would like to accomplish that day. Make a list of what you wish to accomplish each week. Each step you take toward your dreams is one step away from your nightmares.

Bless all of the things and people in your life that you are grateful for. I make a list a few times a week of all of my blessings; it helps me to have a positive perspective when I do this kind of review. I spend time every single day meditating and doing something that I truly enjoy so that I am refilling my internal cup which gives me a greater capacity to give to others.

Learn more about yourself by determining what it is that thrills you in life. What is your biggest passion? What do you dream of most through your day? Are you taking the necessary steps to feed that which brings you such great joy?

Stop waiting and let go of the weight that has made you slow to react, slow to go, too tired to make the moves that will surely bring you into your perfect and peaceful place. One day you will not think about your weight, you will automatically be living the life that brings you balance and will therefore find you have balanced even your body chemistry because you are more joyful. Scientific research has proven that when we are in a state of joy, our bodies work with us to sustain life in the grandest ways. If you can determine your passion, you will find your balance in life and you will be well on your way to achieving other dreams come true.

Make my daily mantra your own….”Success is my only option!”

Are We Hyper-Dispens,Facts about Old Ironsides ationalists?

Many years ago, H. A. Ironside1
published a booklet entitledWrongly Dividing the Word of Truth
in which he threw Charles Baker and C. R. Stam into the same bucket as E. W. Bullinger. Ever since then, we have been labeled as having the same extreme views as Bullinger. Men who have never looked into what we really teach continue to spread the slander started by Ironside back in the 1930′s. Besides, it’s much easier to label us as “hyper” and dismiss us than it is to address us based on the Scriptures.

This was recently done again in the July/August 1999 issue ofUplook
magazine (published by the Plymouth Brethren). In this theirDispensationalism Issues
issue, they presented an excellent overview of dispensationalism. As a matter of fact, we would agree with the majority of what was written. But then, one writer had to add this statement:

“One final word. Like all good things, the study of dispensations can be abused. There are some Christians who carry dispensationalism to such an extreme that they accept only Paul’s Prison Epistles as applicable for the church today. As a result, they do not accept baptism or the Lord’s Supper, since these are not found in the Prison Epistles. They also teach that Peter’s gospel message was not the same as Paul’s….These people are sometimes called ultra-dispensationalists or Bullingerites (after a teacher named E. W. Bullinger). Their extreme view of dispensationalism should be rejected.”2

This article was then followed by the following excerpt from Ironside’s book: 3

“What is Bullingerism or Ultra-dispensationalism? This system was first advocated some years ago by Dr. E. W. Bullinger (1837-1913), who was educated at King’s College, London, and was a clergyman in the Church of England. These views have been widely spread through the notes of the Companion Bible which he edited. Dr. Bullinger’s positions are glaringly opposed to what is generally accepted as orthodox teaching. This movement has been carried forth in our day by ardent proponents such as Cornelius Stam, J. C. O’Hair and Charles Baker. [emphasis mine]

“There are a number of outstanding tenets of Ultra-dispensationalism. First, it is insisted that the four Gospels are entirely Jewish and have no real message for the Church. Secondly, it is maintained that in the book of Acts we do not have the Church, the Body of Christ, but that the word ekklesia (church), as it is used in that book refers to a different Church altogether than that of Paul’s Prison Epistles. Thirdly, it is contended that Paul did not receive his special revelation of the mystery of the Body until his imprisonment in Rome, and that his Prison Epistles alone reveal this truth and are, strictly speaking, the only portion of the Holy Scriptures given to the members of His Body. All of the other epistles of Paul are relegated to an earlier dispensation and were for the instruction of the so-called Jewish Church of that time. Fourthly, the Christian ordinances, having been given before Paul, are supposed to have no real connection with the present economy, and therefore are relegated to the past, and may again have a place in the future Great Tribulation.

“Beside these points, there are many other unscriptural things which are advocated by Bullingerism. Many boldly advocate the sleep of the soul between death and resurrection, the annihilation of the wicked, the universal salvation of all men and demons, the denial of the eternal Sonship of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the denial of the personality of the Holy Spirit. All these evil doctrines find congenial soil in Bullingerism or Ultra-dispensationalism.”

“But wait!” You’re thinking, “I don’t believe those things!” Well, neither do I, but these are their tactics. As far as most Acts 2 folks are concerned, we agree with Bullinger’s far out views regarding soul sleep, annihilation of the wicked, universalism, and that the Body of Christ did not start until Acts 28. You either believe in their interpretation of dispensationalism or you are an extremist like Bullinger. They do not recognize any middle ground. This is what we are up against.

In the above quote, Ironside lists some the “outstanding tenets” of what he calls “ultra-dispensationalism.” While this is a convenient label, it does not Biblically address the issues. Let us examine what Ironside said (and everyone else seems to repeat) and see if we agree or not.

“First, it is insisted that the four Gospels are entirely Jewish and have no real message for the Church”: We do not believe that the four gospels have no real message for the church–Paul says that ALL Scripture is profitable. However, we do believe (because we hold to a literal historical interpretation of the Bible) that Christ’s earthly ministry was in keeping with Israel’s prophetic kingdom program (Matt. 10:5-6; 15:24). We find application in the gospels to be sure, but to say that the basic message of the gospels is directed to the Body of Christ is not being consistent or literal. As Scofield says in his reference Bible, “The Epistles of the Apostle Paul have a very distinctive character..http://www.ironsideeffects.info/baldwinwhere-is-old-ironside-ship-located-locomotive-works…Through Paul alone we know that the church is not an organization, but an organism, the Body of Christ; instinct with His life, and heavenly in calling, promise, and destiny. Through him alone we know the nature, purpose, and form of organization of local churches, and the right conduct of such gatherings. Through him alone do we know that `we shall not all sleep,’ that `the dead in Christ shall rise first,’ and that living saints shall be `changed’ and caught up to meet the Lord in the air at His return. But to Paul was also committed the unfolding of the doctrines of grace…Paul, converted by the personal ministry of the Lord in glory, is distinctively the witness to a glorified Christ, Head over all things to the church which is His Body, as the Eleven were to Christ in the flesh.” And if, according to traditional dispensationalism, the Body of Christ started at Pentecost, how can it be found retroactively in the gospels? The message that Peter preached at Pentecost was an offer of the millennial kingdom to Israel (Acts 2:22) conditional upon their repentance and recognition of Jesus as their Messiah–something that we now know will not happen until after the tribulation.

“Secondly, it is maintained that in the book of Acts we do not have the Church, the Body of Christ, but that the word ekklesia (church), as it is used in that book, refers to a different Church altogether than that of Paul’s Prison Epistles”: You’d think they would at least understand this! Regarding the assembly in the book of Acts, we have both “churches” mentioned, depending on the context. If you see the Body of Christ in the gospels, you are closer to a covenant position than a dispensational one. If the Body is found in the gospels, then to be consistent, it also has to be found in the Old Testament prophetic program as well. It was Bullinger (with whom we do not agree) who said that the Body of Christ did not start until the close of the book of Acts and that only Paul’s prison epistles are for us today.

“Thirdly, it is contended that Paul did not receive his special revelation of the mystery of the Body until his imprisonment in Rome, and that his Prison Epistles alone reveal this truth and are, strictly speaking, the only portion of the Holy Scriptures given to the members of His Body”: We do not agree with Bullinger on this point either. We do say that Paul received a special revelation (Gal. 1:11-12), but we do not agree that only his prison epistles are applicable to us today. Paul began to receive his special revelation of the mystery upon his conversion in Acts 9.

“Fourthly, the Christian ordinances, having been given before Paul, are supposed to have no real connection with the present economy, and therefore are relegated to the past, and may again have a place in the future Great Tribulation”: Regarding the “ordinances” of the church, there is no place in Scripture where water baptism and the Lord’s supper are linked. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial that we are instructed in I Corinthians 11 to keep “until He come.” However, we do feel that water baptism is a Jewish ordinance and is something that was phased out during the transition period. It is also rarely pointed out that we are not unique in understanding that water baptism is not for today. Other groups throughout church history, such as the Quakers, have also come to this same conclusion.

“Many boldly advocate the sleep of the soul between death and resurrection, the annihilation of the wicked, the universal salvation of all men and demons, the denial of the eternal Sonship of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the denial of the personality of the Holy Spirit. All these evil doctrines find congenial soil in Bullingerism or Ultra-dispensationalism”: This is the worst sort of guilt by association, but I’m sure you see the implication. If you believe in a mid-Acts position, then, according to them, you also believe in these extreme and unscriptural viewpoints as well. By associating us with these cult-like beliefs we can be discredited without ever having to answer our Biblical arguments.

This is what we are up against. These are the same battles, misunderstandings, and deliberate misrepresentations that Pastor Stam has had to fight against for over 60 years–and we must continue to do so today if the gospel of the grace of God is going to continue to go forward.

Yet rather than discourage us, these things should motivate us. We know what we have found. We know how confused we used to be. We can honestly say that this is a more consistent and literal approach to Scripture. We no longer have to explain away what the Bible clearly says in verses such as Acts 2:38. We know that by reading the Body of Christ back into the gospels, we rob them of their distinctive kingdom character. By not understanding the difference we either have to make the clear statements in the gospels (such as a distinction between Jew and Gentile and water baptism) conform to Paul’s epistles (where he says there is no difference between Jew and Greek, and that he is the apostle to the Gentiles) by explaining them away or we have to read the gospels into Paul’s epistles and make them conform to the message in the gospels (which is what John MacArthur has done with “Lordship Salvation”).

We are not the wild-eyed radicals that the theological media tries to portray us as. We are in agreement with the overwhelming majority of traditional dispensationalism. Our two primary points of disagreement are that we see the Body of Christ starting with the conversion and call of the Apostle Paul and that water baptism is not a requirement for this dispensation.

Let us stand firm in proclaiming the unique message revealed to and through the Apostle Paul. It is like telling others about our faith in Christ. We know what it has done for us. We know that it has cleared away our confusion. Let us graciously and boldly share with others what this message has done for us.

What Does USS Stand for?.The USA, Israel’s Friendly Bully – Part I

I. Introduction

It is common knowledge that, in international affairs, emotions defer to self-interest. As George Orwell noted in his masterpiece, “1984″, the flux of circumstance may render yesterday’s foe tomorrow’s friend.

Thus, ever since the USA bombed Yugoslavia in 1999 and then proceeded to champion the cause of the restive Albanian minority in 2001 (amidst a bloodied insurgency), America was widely considered by many Macedonians as the enemy. A mere 7 years later, Bush’s United States has become Macedonia’s last hope and great supporter in its conflict with Greece over the “name issue”.

But Macedonia would do well to learn from Israel’s turbulent and bitter experience with the United States. Despite the fact that the Israeli lobby in Washington – AIPAC – is by far the mightiest and the best organized, backed as it is by millions of affluent and politically active Jews, Israel was often pressured by its “friend” and strategic ally into compromises that subverted its national interest and even endangered its very existence.

II. 1948-1967

During the 1950s and 1960s, the USA was essentially pro-Arab. It attempted to secure the oil fields of the Middle East (in the Gulf, Iraq, and Iran) from Soviet encroachment by nurturing friendly relations with the region’s authoritarian regimes and by fostering a military alliance with Turkey (later, a part of an extended NATO).

Remarkably, Israel was forced to rely on the USSR for arms (supplied via the Czech Republic) and, later, on France and Britain, who were desperately trying to hang on to the smoldering remnants of their colonial empires

Thus, in 1956, Israel (in collusion with France and Britain) attempted to prise open the critical recently-nationalized waterway, the Suez Canal, by invading the Sinai Peninsula, then, as now, a part of Egypt. The USA forced Israel into a humiliating and public retreat and threatened the fledgling state with economic, military, and diplomatic sanctions if it did not comply with American demands without ado.

During the 1960s, even when America did (rarely) sell weapons systems to Israel, it made sure to make the same armaments available to Israel’s avowed and vociferous enemies, Egypt and Jordan. By 1967, the USA has granted the Hashemite Kingdom of Trans-Jordan far larger sums of military and foreign aid than it did its neighbor to the west, Israel.

President Johnson was a staunch supporter of Israel. Yet,What Does USS Stand for?The USA, Israels Friendly Bully - Part I

info’ target=’_blank’>Where Is The Filming Location Of ?. in the run-up to the Six Days War, the Johnson Administration summoned Israeli politicians and military leaders to Washington and publicly chastised and berated them for refusing to succumb to American pressure and yield to Arab demands (which amounted essentially to the dismantling of the Jewish State by economic and diplomatic means). Secretary of State Dean Rusk went as far as blaming Israel for the war. A diplomatic solution, he insisted, was possible, had Israel shown more flexibility.

The deliberate or mistaken Israeli attack, during the conflict, on the USS Liberty, an American intelligence-gathering ship, moored in international waters, did not help bilateral relations any.

III. 1967-Present

Still, Israel’s decisive victory over the combined forces of numerous Arab states, many of which bore Soviet arms, changed perceptions in Washington and among the Jews: here was a military democracy that could serve as a bulwark against Soviet expansion in the Middle East; a regional cop; a testing ground for new weapons; a living breathing demonstration of the superiority of American arms; an intelligence gathering “front office”; and a frontline base in case of dire need.

Israel’s standing was thus transformed from pariah to a major non-NATO ally overnight (a status officially granted it in 1987). Israel felt sufficiently secure in its newfound pivotal strategic role to reject a peace plan forwarded by then Secretary of State, Will Rogers in 1970.

Yet, even in the heyday of this “special relationship”, Israel refrained from defying the USA and feared the repercussions of any disagreement, major or minor. This hesitancy and dread were not confined to the political echelons: the entire population were affected. People of all walks of life engaged in reading the tea leaves of “the mood in Washington” and what should Israel do to placate its fickle, thuggish, and overbearing “partner”.

Thus, despite numerous warning signs that it is about to be attacked by superior Arab forces in 1973, the Israeli leadership gambled with the country’s very existence and did not launch a pre-emptive strike, having been cautioned not to act by President Nixon and his Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger.

When Israel repelled and encircled the invading Egyptian Army, Kissinger called Israel’s Ambassador in Washington, Simcha Dinitz and instructed him not to pursue a military victory. When Dinitz protested, Kissinger told him that disobeying the United States (and destroying the aggressor’s remaining forces on the ground) was “an option that simply does not exist”.

Kissinger then proceeded with shuttle diplomacy aimed at pressuring Israel into ceding most of the land it conquered in the last two wars in return for a mere ceasefire.

What Does USS Stand for? What Does USS Stand for?The USA, Israels Friendly Bully - Part I

Whenever Israel resisted any of his dictates, however inconsequential, Kissinger would publicly threaten Israel with abandonment and even sanctions. This modus operandi continued throughout President Carter’s years in office.

Even in the early Reagan years, Israel was berated and threatened on a regular basis, owing to its invasion of Lebanon and its rejection of yet another American-imposed “peace” plan in 1982 and in 1988. The Reagan Administration also openly consorted with the PLO, at the time still an unrepentant, anti-Jewish terrorist organization.

Yet, throughout these very public and advertent humiliations, the USA remained Israel’s main backer. Friendship and bullying appeared to be two inalienable facet of the same coin of American-Israeli relations.

The two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 1981; formed a Joint Military Political Group in 1983; conducted joint air and naval exercises in 1984; stockpiled American weapons and materiel on Israeli soil; and signed a free trade agreement in 1985. Israel has also been the recipient of 3 billion USD annually (until 2004, one third of all American foreign aid) since the early 1980s.

At the very same time, Secretary of State, James Baker reprimanded Israel for its “expansionist” policies and his boss, President Bush (the father) insisted that east Jerusalem – the very soul and heart of the Jewish state – was an “occupied territory”.

Blowing hot and cold on the “special” relationship strained them to the hilt. Disagreements and misunderstandings proliferated as the USA began to micromanage Israeli affairs, telling the country how to conduct its investigations into incidents and even how to hold elections (for the Palestinian delegation to a peace conference).

With the first Gulf War imminent in 1990, Bush affirmed the USA’s commitment to Israel’s existence and security. But, only a year later, when Iraq attacked Israel with Scud missiles and Israel heeded America’s request not to retaliate did relations between the two asymmetric allies thaw. Israel was granted loans, albeit under the condition that it freezes all settlement activities in the West Bank.

Relations between Israel and the Administration of President Bush (the son) started off on the wrong foot, with recriminations and accusations, only to be rendered an intimate collaboration by the terrorist attacks of September 2001.

Exclusive: Ask Aims To Make Q&A More :What Battleship Was Nicknamed Old Ironsides? Social

Earlier this year opened up its community portion of the site to its entire user base. This gave users the ability to ask questions and get answers from people. Since then, the company has been re-tooling its site looking for ways to get users more engaged.

“As we’ve all seen, Q&A sites are growing in popularity and there’s a reason for it; people are inherently curious AND want to share their expertise and answers/opinions,” Ask CTO Lisa Kavanaugh tells WebProNews. “By seeing how our 60 million users are interacting on , people really do want to help others out by sharing their own knowledge and opinions on topics they care about.”

Ask is rolling out a new feature on its– the top categories of questions people ask on the site. Categories include: Arts, Cars & Transportation, Entertainment, Food & Drink, Politics & Government, Science, Sports & Recreation, Technology, etc. Ask will place the most asked and answered questions front and center.

Ask believes this will drive the community to become more social (answering, commenting and asking more questions). The Category pages themselves, Ask says, are designed to create appealing destinations people return to often.

“These pages have been reorganized to create a compelling destination for users that are passionate about certain topics, prompting them to ask more questions, and compelling them to answer more meaningfully,” the company tells us. “These pages are more visually appealing and engaging because they’re showing what excites people most by pushing the most popular content front and center.”

“ is always studying and analyzing user behavior in the community and we proactively made this change,” a spokesperson says. “We’re exploring several new techniques to help keep users engaged on the site even longer and to keep Ask as their go-to destination when it comes to getting answers to their questions. We believe this change will help increase engagement on the category pages and increase content contribution in each category.”

Users will still be able to view recently asked questions, and can see them by scrolling down on each Category Page.

Ask says it gets twice as many visits from people who pose questions to each other, as opposed to the search box. That’s pretty obvious if you think about it. They’re going to return to see the answers. 60 million users is a lot of people. Keeping them coming back and finding a way to keep them engaged is key.

List of Poem Types:Apple Bringing Retina Display to MacBook Pro Next Year?

The Apple rumor mill is rumbling to life again this morning on reports that the company may be bringing its vaunted retina display, first introduced with the iPhone 4 last year, to it’s MacBook Pro line of computers. Citing sources “in the upstream supply chain,” DigiTimes is reporting that Apple is planning to launch the new line of MacBook Pros sometime in the second quarter of 2012.

This rumor follows several other reports related to Apple products lately.Where Is Old Ironsides Located?. Last week we coveredthat the next generation of Apple’s iPad would be releasing next year with a retina display. Meanwhile DigiTimeslast month – again citing supply-line sources – that the MacBook Pro would be getting a thinner MacBook Air-style chassis sometime in the second quarter of 2012.

Though this report is still just a rumor, it is true that the MacBook Pro line will be coming due for a refresh soon. Though Apple quietly updated the line in October to include more storage and memory, the computers themselves have remained unchanged for a couple of years.

The ultra-high resolution retina display is so named because it boasts a pixel density so high that from a distance of more than just a few inches, the user’s eyes are not physically capable of distinguishing individual pixels. It made waves when it was introduced with the iPhone 4 last summer, and almost immediately speculation began on which devices would be the next to get it. To everyone’s surprise, the next device turned out to be the iPhone 4S, released just a few months ago. It was widely believed that the iPad 2 would be getting a retina display, and rumors circulated that the company would be putting it in everything from MacBooks to iMacs soon. These recent rumors – about both the MacBook Pro and the iPad 3 – may signal the beginning of this long-awaited rollout.

Old Ironsides,0 to approve the development plan for a sprawlin

Yahoo’s cleared a significant hurdle on the path to building a new headquarters. The Santa Clara City Council has approved its proposal to construct a 3-million-square-foot campus, although whether Yahoo intends to move forward with the idea is now very much unknown.

The first (and last) time we heard about the hypotheticalwas in October of last year, when Jerry Yang was still in charge of the company. The plans involved 40-something acres located at 5010 Drive in Santa Clara.

Now,has reported, "The Santa Clara City Council voted 7-0 to approve the development plan for a sprawling Yahoo campus of thirteen six-story buildings resembling rival Google’s stately headquarters situated less than 10 miles away."

Still, Yahoo hadn’t fully committed to building the new campus in 2009, and the company hasn’t given any hints that it’s going to summon the bulldozers and cranes even after receiving approval,

We’ll see what happens. For the record, Yahoo’s stock is at almost the same level it was when we first reported on the Yahooplex concept, so its financial situation hasn’t exactly worsened. And a hat tip goes to.

” Bosworth:

This may seem obvious, but all Facebook employees are required to have Facebook accounts. Facebook Director of Engineering Andrew “Boz” Bosworth confirmed as much on Quora.

In response to the question: “Are there people at Facebook that do not have a Facebook account?Old Ironsides.” Bosworth:

“No, our tools require that all employees have an account.”

Bosworth has been fairly, dropping nuggets about the company here and there. Another recent question he addressed was: “Are there any employees of Facebook that feel uneasy about their company’s success and its future, going into 2012, and would like to elaborate on it?”

He said, “Probably not.”

When a Quora user asked, “How many Facebook messages can I send to anyone or specific person per day?” he said:

“There are no fixed limits. We have numerous safeguards against abuse which could limit you if your behavior appears to be spammy or unwanted and even those are adaptive so there is no set rule.”

Anyone recallafter being labeled a spammer by the company?
